GYM RULES

Fortius East Rules:

We are not a huge commercial gym with hundreds of members. Because we have a small community, we pour ourselves into that community and expect our members to do the same for each other. NO CLIQUES and NO BS. We want our members to feel at home at and we don’t want anyone taking that away from us. So we set out some very important rules for our gym. Our rules are part of what makes us different and a large reason why our Community is and will continue to be strong.

Be here because you want to be here: You should be coming to Fortius East because you want to not because you think to need to do. We want people who want to be here simple as that. We are Ok with people moving on to another gym…Gyms have personalities and we like who we are. We won’t try to please those that aren’t happy regardless of how well we treat them.

Come to class regularly: It makes it incredibly difficult to coach those that aren’t here often enough to learn and grow. Injuries are an opportunity to get better at something else. Don’t stay away because you are injured. We can and do program for physical therapy and limitations every day.

Check your ego at the door: There is always someone out there bigger, faster, and stronger than you, sometimes SHE is faster and stronger than you gents. Work hard and those things take care of themselves. Be happy they are stronger than you, cheer for them! It goes both ways, we can assure you of that.

Be on time for class: Class starts promptly at the given class time so please be ready to go then, don’t walk into the door of the gym at class time and take 10 minutes to get ready. If you’re more than 5 minutes late for class please consider waiting until the next class, or forgoing the first portion of the class so that you can get properly warmed-up.

Pay Attention: Talking while the coach is going over the movements creates a bad environment for learning. Please keep your ears open and allow others to hear the coach explain the movements of the day.

Group Warm Ups: Please don’t think you’re above the Group Warm Ups. Besides it being a critical part of our work out. Its a great opportunity to get to know the movements and the other members.

Clean up after yourself:: Clean up your sweat, blood and chalk. Pick up your used tape, pens, notebooks, bandages, water bottles, and sweaty clothes. Put away all the equipment used. We promise that coaches will appreciate it when you offer to help clean up.

Care and Use of Equipment: DONT DROP EMPTY BARBELLS and Dropping weights should be done only if necessary and always keep your weights under control.

Your home too: If you notice that something is not quite right, bring it to our attention so we can fix it. With your help, we can address anything that needs fixing.

Train Smart: Know when to back off and when to turn it up. If you get hurt you can’t train. If you can’t train, you can’t get more fit. Don’t ignore your body. If you need to scale back or aren’t comfortable, tell the coach, and do so. This is being smart, and smart will keep you healthy.

Don’t Cheat: No one will care what your score is, but everyone will care if you cheated: Be honest with yourself and everyone else. This sport is about performance. If you only do some of the work, how can we tell if you are improving.

Aesthetics does not equal fitness, Consistent repeated actions equal better fitness which improves performance. Improved performance will equal improved aesthetics.

No Shirts No Problem: Guys, shirts are optional. Ladies, sports bras are welcome. Wear what’s comfortable. It’s all about performance and results here. And again, don’t worry about how you look, worry about how you perform and how hard you work.

By far the Most important rule to follow at Fortius East: Be an active part of our Community: Introduce yourself to everyone you don’t know. Post on our FB Page, Member Facebook Page and Instagram. Keep up with what’s coming by Following Fortius East, Fortius South and Fortius HQ on Facebook and Instagram. Come out to our monthly social events, and competitions.
